This concept required programming, space planning, and design for a new Adams County School District STEM School. This progressive, modern curriculum, demands features, spaces and architecture to match.

Classroom wings feature open gathering areas and group study enclosures to provide breakout space. Each classroom wing is anchored to the spine by two STEM labs, each housing unique technology, equipment and tools tailored to the curriculum.

At key access points, exterior walkways, benches and lunch spill-out patios provide students with access to the outdoors. A second level pollinator and urban garden provides an oasis outside the library, doubling as a micro-agriculture and environmental studies classroom.

This expansive campus stretches along the length of a common circulation spine, providing opportunities for future phase expansion. The design for a large student population suggests spaces that offer different scales of community, from a full student body auditorium and gym, to mid-sized dining spaces, grade level ‘wings’ and private seating groups of mixed scales and exposure.
